Obituary

Jay "Bruce" McCafferty, 72, of Lawrenceville, GA., passed away at home on January 16, 2025.  He was born in Wheeling, WV., on April 13, 1952 to Frank Kenneth and Betty June McCafferty.  Bruce was one of 3 children: younger brother to Janet, older brother to Mary.

After leaving West Virginia with his family, Bruce eventually made his home in the Atlanta, GA. area and began a career with Waffle House, Corp. in 1974.  With a brief hiatus to Dallas, TX. during this time from 1977-1978, he eventually made his way back to the Atlanta area and continued to work for Waffle House Corp. until 2000.  In 2000, he made the decision to further advance his career with Uline, Inc., where he would remain until his retirement in 2014. When he wasn't at work, he could be found at the nearest pool or beach when the opportunity arose or as an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan, watching them play and supporting his favorite team through highs and lows. When he wasn't taking in the sun or watching his beloved Bulldogs play, you would probably find him at the local car dealership, preferably Cadillac.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Frankie McCafferty, of Lawrenceville, GA.; son Jay (April) of Covington, GA., daughter Heather (Kevin) of Loganville, GA., son Frank (Christina) of Prosper, TX. and seven grandchildren; Lauren, Christian, Brooklynn, Karter, Sidney Jakob, and Kaleb. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Kenneth McCafferty, and his mother, Betty (Dudley) McCafferty.

Throughout his life, he always instilled the value and importance of hard work and family, leaving a lasting imprint on countless lives. He was the heart of our family and the pillar of our strength. He was a devoted grandfather, who found endless joy in their laughter and achievements. His unwavering love and pride for his grandchildren were the heart of his life and will forever be cherished. His absence will be felt deeply, but his spirit will continue to live on, and we will hold him close to our hearts.

As we say goodbye to Bruce, let us remember him not with sorrow or sadness, but with his charming personality and the often quick-witted and well-developed sense of humor he displayed that made those around him laugh and with his legacy of a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Those who knew him will always remember him by his infectious smile, willingness to help others, and positive outlook on life. He was a devoted Christian whose faith guided his life and love for others. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, and his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
