Hinh Phuong Nguyen, aged 81, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026. Born on January 6, 1945, in the picturesque mountain city of Dalat, Vietnam. He was the beloved son of the late Toan Phuong Nguyen and An Nguyen. He married Tiet Nguyen on September 6, 1969.

Hinh spent his early years in Vietnam, where he pursued his higher education and graduated from the University of Saigon. While in Vietnam, he was introduced to the gospel and God’s servants, which he cherished and worshiped until the very end. His belief and faith gave him comfort and peace in his final days. In January of 1975, he was awarded a scholarship to study in New Zealand, with his family joining him by the end of 1975. Guided by a deep commitment to building a bright future for his family, he immigrated to the United States in 1981. He settled in Springfield, Illinois, where he established deep roots and dedicated many years of public service as a respected tax auditor for the State of Illinois. In later years, he lived in Crystal Lake, IL, Geneva, IL, Golden, CO, Montgomery, IL, and finally his last years in Hoschton, GA. His strong work ethic, integrity, and gentle demeanor earned him the enduring respect of his colleagues and community.

A devoted family man above all else, Hinh’s proudest legacy lives on through those he loved most. He is survived by his loving wife, Tiet Nguyen of Hoschton, Georgia; his daughter Loanne (Steve) Freedlund of Snellville, GA and son Tuan (Elsie) Nguyen of Naperville, IL and his five cherished grandchildren – Julia and Justyn Freedlund of Snellville, GA, and Austin, Sophie, and Jessica Nguyen of Naperville, IL who brought him boundless joy and pride in his later years.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at Bryd & Flanigan Crematory and Funeral Service, 288 Hurricane Shoals Rd. NE, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 on September 5, 2026. Interment will be in Beecher City, IL. 

He will be remembered fondly for his quiet strength, unwavering perseverance, and the deep love he held for his family.
