Gregory Calvin Blevins, 72, passed away peacefully in his home in Lilburn, GA, surrounded by his family on August 6, 2023, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born on June 19, 1951, to Calvin & Wilda Blevins in Fort Wayne, IN. After graduating from Woodlan High School in 1969, he went on to join the Navy. He served as an MM3 in the Navy from 1970 to 1974 aboard the USS Bryce Canyon stationed in Pearl Harbor.
He married his wife, Laura Marie Miller, of 44 years on May 5, 1979. They welcomed their first child, Christopher Michael, in Fort Wayne, IN. In 1982, they moved from Indiana to Georgia so that he could pursue a career as a Construction Superintendent for Waffle House, building Waffle Houses throughout the South. In 1988, they welcomed their second child, Mary Catherine. After 10 years at Waffle House, he moved on to become a Maintenance Superintendent for Columbia Retail Management and was with them until he retired in 2021.
He became a Grandfather in 2013 to Tanner Anglin and again in 2016 to Addie Anglin and he loved spending time with them. He was a good Husband, Father, and Grandfather and loved to tinker in his workshop he built from the ground up by himself.
Preceded in death by his parents Calvin & Wilda Blevins. His aunt Gladys & uncle Don Hoeppner, uncle Lorenz Stemmler, father-in-law & mother-in-law Forrest (Nub) & Mary Lou Miller
Greg is survived by his wife Laura, son Christopher, daughter Mary (Scott) Anglin, 2 grandchildren Tanner, & Addie Anglin, s isters Natalie Brudi, Deb (Mike) Brandt, Kimmerly Fox, b rother Doug Blevins, a unt Ruth Ann Stemmler, b rother in laws Steve (Tracy) Miller, Jeff (Karen) Miller, c ousins Rick (Christine) Stemmler, Larry (Dee) Stemmler, Connie (Rick) Smith, Cheryl (Gary) Hamond, Chris (Todd) Klopfenstein, Steve (Sally) Hoeppner, Matt Hoeppner, Janet (Jim) Kissel, Jim (Carolyn) Hormann, Tony (Rhonda) Williams, Don (Dianne) Williams, Jill (Mike) Short, & Doug (Joni) Lehman, n ieces & nephews Taylor (Cherilyn) Miller, Aaron (Veronika) Miller, Maggie (Nick) Antonio, Will Miller, Evan Miller, Meghan Brandt, Amelia Brandt, Brent Brudi, Amber Brudi, & Mark (Lindsey) Brudi A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Byrd & Flanigan Funeral Service with Father Henry Atem serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at Gwinnett Memorial Park Lawrenceville. The family will receive on Monday August 14, 2023 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be made to the Pancan.org in Memory of Gregory Blevins
