George William Cook

George William Cook, age 71, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

George was a lifelong member of the Lawrenceville community and a proud 1973 graduate of Central Gwinnett High School. He dedicated 44 years of service to JM Tull Metals, where he worked as a slitter operator until his retirement. For more than 35 years, George was a faithful member of Cross Roads Baptist Church.

George found great enjoyment in the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, and when he was at home, he could often be found watching his favorite Western television shows. Above all, George cherished the life he shared with his loving wife of 53 years, Vivian Sosebee Cook, and the time spent with his family.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George Wilburn Cook and Nomia Dale Walker Cook.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vivian Sosebee Cook; his sons, Mike Cook (LaRae Bailey) and Adam Cook; his sisters, Imogene Freeman, Frances Moon, and Brenda Banks; his uncle, David Cook; his aunt, Maude Boyd; and his brothers-in-law, Marcus Sosebee Sr., Randy Sosebee, and Keiter Foster; a host of extended family; and friends

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life service honoring George will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Cross Roads Baptist Church, 1391 Braselton Highway, Lawrenceville, Georgia. Pastor Kenny Kuykendall and the Rev. Jared Butler will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Following the service, George will be laid to rest at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at 4:00 PM, 3680 Pleasant Grove Church Road, Blairsville, Georgia, with Pastor Kenny Kuykendall and Rev. Cason Kuykendall officiating.
