Frances Marie Zumbrunn
Born April 16, 1934 in Ashtabula, Ohio, Frances Marie Dellerba was the fifth and last child of John and Aina
Tikkanen Dellerba. To really know Fran, you need to know a bit about her background.
Fran grew up with family traditions at the core including Sunday dinners, weekly sauna baths and working at
the family’s Diner. Fran met her future husband, Walter Duane Zumbrunn, while working at the Diner. They
married on April 19, 1952 and shortly started growing and raising a family of 5 children. Fran worked part time
jobs in the evenings to help feed that “Full House” (3 boys and 2 girls). Her most notable job was being a
waitress for Bob Evans Restaurant and worked there for 15 years before retiring.
In 1992, Fran and Duane retired from working and moved to Central Florida where they resided until moving to
Georgia in 2021. While in Florida, Frances enjoyed joining their neighborhood activities. She especially loved
Scrapbooking, Square Dancing, and playing games with the “girls” (including MahJong, Bingo and Poker!).
When she wasn’t having fun with the girls, Fran worked seasonally at Universal Studios!
Frances passed away peacefully on February 27th, 2026 at the age of 91. She is preceded in death by
her husband of 72 years, Duane Zumbrunn; her parents John and Aina Dellerba; sister Lillian and
brothers Paul, Spiro, and Nick. Fran leaves two daughters Kim (Dale) Mayberry and Robin (Mitch) Davis;
and three sons John (Cheryl) Zumbrunn, Bill Zumbrunn, and Dennis (Sheri) Zumbrunn to continue her
legacy. Along with her five children she also leaves 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, many nieces
and nephews, and many many friends.
Fran was always the light of any party, always giving to others. As Lisa Welch, her first granddaughter, said of
her, “She was the perfect mixture of sass, kindness, and humor.” She lived her life on her own terms right
up until the end!
Thank you to all who helped provide much needed care to Fran over the last 4 1⁄2 years. Your dedication,
compassion and love you showed her is still greatly appreciated!
A Memorial Service will be held at Manor Lake Assisted Living and Memory Care in Snellville GA. Burial
will take place in Toledo, OH.
