Evelyn Chilton Young of Grayson, GA, age 85, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.  Evelyn was born on April 27, 1933, at home in Livingston, Tennessee, and moved to Atlanta, Georgia in the mid-1950s. She was the daughter of the late Elba Edis Chilton and Nannie May ( Glidwell ) Chilton. Evelyn went to high school in Celina, Tennessee and business school in Nashville, Tennessee. Evelyn was united in marriage to Jesse Thomas Young and had one daughter and two sons. She had been employed with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and later Northern Telecom. Evelyn was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church. She was a member of local quilting guilds, loved gardening, crossword puzzles and reading her Bible. Evelyn is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Carol Young and Jeffrey Paul Ely; sons, Kenneth Wayne Young and Gregory Keith Young; grandchildren, Melissa Gail Ely and Jason Wayne Wood and Michael Paul and Kelly Lukenda Ely; great-grandchildren, Brody Wayne Wood and Bennett Michael Ely; sisters Laura Jane Buford and Marcia Bayne Martin; and nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions in Evelyn's honor may be made to the Bethany Baptist Church in Snellville, Georgia.
