Obituary

Eric E Mayham, 49, of Loganville, Georgia passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, August 25, 2025.

He was born on November 5, 1975, in Plantation, Florida to Thomas Scott Mayham and Karen (Engebretson) Mayham. As a young boy, Eric was precocious with all things mechanical and electrical. He was meticulous in his pursuits, never wanting failure to be an option. He analyzed things deeply, which made him excel at work and in his building projects. He helped his mother to diagnose and fix a loose wire on her car at the age of 9 when his father was out of town and as an older child, helped his father to finish wiring a basement in their new home. This gift he had made him a great mechanic, handyman, and the self- appointed expert for building all things, especially IKEA. It has often been said that things Eric put together might survive a nuclear blast but would require patience to allow for his timeline of 6-8 business months for completion. Anyone who knew Eric for more than just an introduction could tell you that everything in Eric's life ran on Eric time. His attention to details did not come with great attention to time management. Eric loved the outdoors, especially when the weather was cold. Growing up in Michigan as a young child, he would vividly recall shoveling snow and then earning his allowance based on the inches of snowfall each month. This allowed him to save up and purchase a bicycle where he could further explore his community. Later, Eric moved to Africa with his family as they began missionary work and he deeply loved the life he found at Rethy Academy. It was there that he learned to ride a motorcycle, build a treehouse out of scrounged materials and also broke his leg. However, perhaps his greatest impression in Africa was when he met the Mission Aviation Fellowship pilots. He fell in love with flying and spent time taking flying lessons. Later, when they moved to Georgia, his father instilled in him a love of hiking the Southern Appalachian Mountains and Eric later passed this love on to his children and other family. Eric was a gifted artist, a staunch defender of the 2 nd amendment, a dog Dad, an avid Michigan State fan and a lover of off color jokes and funny memes. His smile was contagious, and his laughter shook his entire body. He loved fishing and driving through the mountains on winding roads. He loved teaching and could explain things in such detail that his family often joked when you asked him for the time, he taught you how to build a clock. He never withheld his help from anyone and often went to great lengths to ease other people's burdens. He was a passionate man, with a deep love of Jesus, and an unwavering belief of his eternal life in heaven. He loved so many things, but there was nothing he loved more in this world than his family. Eric was a devoted father and husband. His children meant the world to him, and he never missed an opportunity to brag on how proud he was of the lives that they were building. Becoming a Pop-Pop to his grandson and the expectation of having another grandson later this year filled him with so much joy. Eric counted his family and friends as his greatest blessings. Although his presence will be missed greatly, his eternal joy has just begun. His legacy will live on through the love and memories he passed on to those closest to him. He will be remembered by those who loved him as a great husband, father, son, grandfather, friend, and brother in Christ.

Eric is survived by his wife, Ellen Mayham of the home; sons Corey Mayham of Columbia, Missouri, and Seth Combs (Kaitlyn) of Fort Smith, Arkansas; daughters Taylor Hutchins and Kristen Williams of Roswell, Georgia, and Tiffany Williams of the home; parents Scott and Patricia Mayham of Marietta, GA; brother Daymon Mayham of Chattanooga, Tennessee; sisters Jennie Ferguson (Brad) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Heidi Ramsey (Brent) of Dalton, Georgia, and Michelle Miller (Chris) of Marietta, Georgia; grandsons Kayden Saxton of Statesboro, Georgia and Ryland Combs (due in November); and numerous other family and friends. Eric is preceded in death by his son, Benjamin Mayham; his mother, Karen Mayham; his paternal grandparents, Thomas Mayham and Adele Keefe Mayham; and maternal grandparents, Martin Engebretson and Jeanette Raetz Engebretson.
