Obituary

Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, David Joseph Buzzy, entered faithfully and peacefully into the presence of our Lord on February 2, 2022. Born August 27, 1941 in Pittsburgh,  PA he would spend the next 80 years becoming the patriarch of a loving and grateful family, while having a career in commercial construction in Pennsylvania, Florida, and Georgia. On any given morning you could find him attending morning Mass at St Benedict, then connecting with his daughters by phone or in person, afterward meeting with his friends of 25+ years at their special clubhouse, and finishing his days practicing his putting skills or competing in a lively game of bocce ball with his neighbors! His days were structured by a framework that included God, Family, Fellowship, and Friendship.

"Buzzy" was welcomed into his heavenly home by his wife of 56 years, Judy Buzzy, whom he cherished and adored and loved dancing with to the sounds of the O'Jays, The Spinners, Luther Vandross, Billy Joel and many other of their favorite artists whose songs you would hear as you entered their home. Dave leaves behind his daughters Kim Weigel, married to Mike Weigel who was like a son, and Deana Buzzy Mitchell, all of whom are heartbroken and saddened by the void that this Gentle Giant has left behind. He is also survived by his brother Greg, our Uncle Gary and Aunt Suzy, his Goddaughter Kerry, sister in law Alice, his nieces Anita, Catherine, and Alice Mary, his nephew Johnny, and all of their children.

Dave's most treasured role in life though was arguably that of being Pop Pop. His grandchildren David, Savannah, Grant, Logan, Carolina, and Grace will all feel the hole that his passing leaves, and their individual memories of him will be told for generations to come. David and his his wife Abbie blessed him with two precious great-grandchildren: Mac and Felicity. While spending time with these two, their Pop Pop was truly at his happiest!

Dave Buzzy was a private, stoic man. He was never too busy to lend a sympathetic ear, never too tired to attend a special function,  and was always quick to diffuse a difficult situation with a clever anecdote or humorous story.  He didn't like wearing socks with his loafers, didn't like for his shiny black car to ever look dirty, didn't mind being the only person sunbathing at the pool when it was "too cold" for everyone else, and could always be counted on to help a person in need if he was able to. He had a passion for the Catholic Church and held a special place in his heart for individuals of any age suffering from substance abuse spiritual sickness or mental instability. Because of this, he will be dearly missed and remembered fondly by everyone who knew and loved him. And it is likely that the last words that you ever heard him speak to you were "you are the best" or  "Love you, love you, love you!"
