Daniel Joseph MacDonald, III, 72, of Sugar Hill, Georgia, passed away on March 5, 2017, after a short fight with cancer. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 17, 2017, at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Johns Creek, Georgia. Dan was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 3, 1944. He graduated from Braintree High School, served in the United States Air Force and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Salem State College. While at Salem State, he was a member of the golf team. Dan moved to Atlanta in 1980 and worked in the insurance industry. To many, he was known as "D.I. Dan", a disability specialist until his retirement. He enjoyed reading, music, golf and anything Irish. He was also actively involved in the Atlanta Black Tie Club. Dan is survived by his two sons, Kyle and Sean, former wife, Debbie, his twin brother, Michael, sister-in-law, Charlene, nephew, Michael and niece, Kelly along with his half-brother David and other family and friends. Dan is preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie, father, Daniel, and brother, Dennis. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to CURE Childhood Cancer, 1117 Perimeter Center West Suite N402, Atlanta, GA 30338.
