IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Diane
Vitro
June 24, 1947 – May 22, 2024
Diane Vitro, age 76, most recently of Snellville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Braselton. A celebration of life/visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Byrd and Flanigan Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Diane was born on June 24, 1947, in Memphis, Tennessee to Elbert and Blanche Moore. She was raised in Memphis with her two younger sisters and enjoyed a childhood playing with her cousins and spending time on family farms. Her family relocated to Albert Lea, Minnesota, and she attended and graduated from Albert Lea High School. Diane returned to Memphis and briefly attended Memphis State prior to moving to Atlanta, Georgia and ultimately marrying. Diane was known for her intelligence and quick wit. Diane worked a variety of jobs, ranging from clerical work, to the IRS, to becoming an FAA Air Traffic Controller, a computer programmer and ultimately spending 29 years at the Centers for Disease Control as a Visual Information Specialist.
Diane dearly loved Jesus, animals, NFL football (until the Atlanta Falcons broke her heart one too many times), Georgia Tech, the University of Alabama, the Rolling Stones, trivia and she was a strong patriot. Diane would tell you that her greatest accomplishment in life was having her son, Neil. She was born to be a mother and found her identity therein.
Diane is survived by her son Neil and wife Joanna of Snellville, Georgia and three grandchildren; Christina, Nathan, and Matthew and her granddog Samson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home at https://www.georgiachildren.org/donate or to the Atlanta Humane Society at https://atlantahumane.org/
