Atlanta

Brenda Ann Land Fluehr, age 85, of Atlanta, passed away on March 6 th at Northside Hospital.

Ann was born on October 31, 1940, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, to Montine Feagin Land and William Byrd Land. She grew up in Decatur and attended Avondale High School. In 1963, she married the love of her life, Chris Fluehr, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and friendship, living most of their years in the Greater Atlanta area. Their first daughter, Laura, was born in 1965, followed by Deborah in 1970. Ann devoted herself wholeheartedly to being a wife and mother, roles she cherished above all else.

Chris’ career took the family on several adventures, including three years in Kingston, Jamaica in the early 1970s, more than five years in Macon, Georgia in the early 1980s, and a year in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, before returning home to Atlanta. Ann was an active and spirited woman. She enjoyed playing tennis at Druid Hills Golf Club for 15 years and later took up golf, playing for more than five years until she suffered a stroke in 1998 at the age of 57. Ever a fighter, Ann faced the next 28 years with courage and determination, making the most of every day.

She was an accomplished bridge player, loved a good game of poker, and was known for her vibrant social life and warm friendships. Ann also was an animal lover and an avid fisher woman! Ann’s joyful spirit and genuine love for others will be deeply missed by the many friends whose lives she touched. Ann held a strong and abiding faith, believing that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior, and we take comfort in knowing she now rests in His presence.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Chris; her daughters, Laura and Deborah; and their families.

In lieu of flowers, Ann would have you consider contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org, ASPCA at aspca.org, or your church of worship.
