Obituary

Betty Sue "Susie" Dunn Betty Sue "Susie" Dunn of Suwanee, GA passed away on February 1, 2022. Susie was born on September 2, 1947 in Wilmington, NC to William and Betty Murrell. Susie as she was known to her family had many careers in her lifetime in addition to raising her family. Starting as a secretary in the GE Materials nuclear division she rapidly rose to become a senior nuclear accident investigator and documentarian, where her largest challenge was her team role in protecting the documentary evidence arising from the Three Mile Island Accident. Following her husband's transfer to Atlanta, she enrolled in Georgia State University where she acquired a BS degree in Mathematics, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. Susie volunteered for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics running mathematical traffic models, leading to a paid position initially doing much the same man- aging the planning and operation of all traffic, including athletes, stage performers, celebrities and audiences to and from the venues, as well as routing the normal traffic of Atlanta around the venues, keeping it moving. It has been said that there was no better time to drive through Atlanta than during the Olympics Games, which is a part of her legacy. On the opening day of the games, she oversaw the operations of 32,000 people. After the Olympics, she took her traffic expertise to the traffic division of the Atlanta Regional Commission, where she worked with multiple agencies and local governments from 36 counties and 56 municipalities at the arduous and thankless job of reducing traffic congestion in the greater Atlanta area. Susie and her husband greatly enjoyed travel and made many memories in exotic locations throughout the world. Left to cherish her memory are her mother - Betty Murrell; husband - Lawrence "Larry" Dunn; son - Scott Wimberley and wife Erin of Everett, WA; daughter – Amy and husband Chad Clark of Sebring, FL; siblings - William Murrell, Mary Murrell and David Murrell; grandchildren - Avie Clark, Killian Clark, Taylor Wimberley, and Jamie Wimberley.
