Obituary

August E. Moser, Sr., of Grayson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest at the age of 89. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, August lived a life rooted in deep faith and devoted family love. He was the son of the late James J. Moser, Sr., and Catherine Kaiser Moser. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, James “Jim” Moser, Jr.

A proud United States Army veteran, August served his country with honor before returning home to continue his education. Following his military service, he graduated from Tulane University, laying the foundation for a distinguished professional life. He went on to build a successful career as an accountant, later retiring from Hunt Wesson and Chevron Corporation, where he was respected for his integrity, leadership, and strong work ethic.

A devoted Catholic, August was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where he served for many years as a lector, sharing the Word of God with reverence and humility. His faith guided every aspect of his life and was evident in his kindness, patience, and steady presence. For the past 12 years, August courageously battled Parkinson’s disease, facing each day with grace, resilience, and unwavering trust in God.

Above all else, August cherished his family. He was a loving husband to his surviving spouse, Marjorie Moser were married a glorious 66 years, and a devoted father to children August Moser, Jr. (Nancy), David Moser (Kimberly), and Meredith Moser Boyd (Matt). He was a proud and adoring grandfather to grandchildren William Moser, Zach Moser, and Zoe Moser, who brought him immeasurable joy.

August immensely loved golfing and spent many happy days on the course. He especially enjoyed his time as a golf marshal at The Chimney’s Golf Course, where he combined his love of the game with fellowship and friendship. He also enjoyed cooking for those he loved, fishing, gardening, and spending time surrounded by family. His workshop held a little bit of everything, and he had a remarkable talent for repairing just about anything. If an appliance broke, August could fix it, and it would seemingly run forever. This skill was learned firsthand while working alongside his father in his younger years and became one of the many ways he cared for those around him.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a Mass celebrating his life at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 319 Grayson Hwy, Lawrenceville, GA 30046, on Friday, May 1st at 11:00 am, with a reception immediately to follow at the church. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 5 th at 11:15 am at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Foundation in August’s memory.

May the angels lead him into paradise; may the martyrs come to welcome him and take him to the holy city, the new and eternal Jerusalem. May perpetual light shine upon him, and may he rest in peace. Amen.
