Audrey Molineux Webster

Sep 17, 1928 — Jun 25, 2026

Audrey Molineux Webster passed away on June 25, 2026, in Atlanta.

Audrey was born on September 17, 1928, in Sutton Coldfield, UK, to Arthur L. and Alice E. Molineux. Eager to gain independence from her family at an early age, she trained as a physical therapist, a profession she was able to practice intermittently in later years. Audrey met her husband, Dr. Gordon A. Webster (1930-2017), when he was a student at the University of Birmingham. Gordon’s career as a DuPont chemical engineer took them to Orange, TX—an exotic experience for British expats, long recounted in family tales—and to Wilmington, DE, where Audrey gave birth to daughters Jennifer and Philippa. Subsequent postings in the Netherlands, Brazil, and Hong Kong enabled them to travel the world, which they continued to do in old age. Inseparable for decades, she and Gordon also explored America’s national parks, enjoyed their flat in Bath, and shared their love of London theater. In retirement, they first settled in a house they built in Charlottesville—where Audrey presided over memorable holiday gatherings—before moving to Decatur and Seattle.

Besides her beloved daughters and their spouses, Frank and John, Audrey is survived by four grandchildren she cherished: Suzanne and Philip (Brynn), and Kate and Aoife. They all fondly remember her adventurous spirit, wry sense of humor, and freshly baked bread. Audrey made friends everywhere and kept close ties with her English relatives, her brother John and his wife Mary (Helen), and her brother-in-law John and his wife Jonquil (Dan). As her memory faded, bits of Shakespeare and T.S. Eliot, or a good cup of tea, still gave her pleasure.

The family thanks the staff at The Fountainview Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and at Hospice Atlanta for their excellent care.
