Obituary

Andray Evette Walker was born May 31st, 1959 to Cedar Biggins and to the late Freddie Smalls in Savannah, Ga. She was the second oldest of 6 siblings. At a young age she often took on a motherly role to her siblings, cousins, and later her nieces and nephews. As she got older, her love and care for her family increasingly became her top priority with great sacrifice and she was happy to be there to assist them in any way possible. Rather it was being a caregiver, giving emotional support, or giving spiritual support through prayer, her heart's desire was to make sure that her family was well. In 1981, Andray gave birth to her 1st child April Collins and in 1982 her 2nd child Andrew Collins. She was a devoted mother to her children and was determined to make sure they had a life full of wonderful experiences she never had. Although Andrew, who is affectionately called Andy Mac was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2 years old, this did not detour Andray from ensuring that both children succeeded in life no matter what. She not only raised both children as a single mother, she exposed them to extensive traveling, new cultures, and instilled in them the art of being committed to learning both in school and in life in general. Her motto was that life was a classroom. She fought to ensure that Andrew had the best care and learning opportunities. Her commitment to his development caused Andrew to mature in ways that doctors said he would never achieve. As Andrew got older, her interest in helping others with autism children increased.

She dedicated years in researching resources that would help mothers in finding the assistance they needed for their children. She was a well of information regarding special needs. She worked with various organizations catering specifically to adults with autism. In 1990, Andray did the best thing anyone could ever do. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and remained committed to her relationship with God until her final breath. She had a God given call to evangelism and pursued her evangelistic credentials at her home church Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Philadelphia, Pa under the leadership of Pastor Benjamin Smith Sr. Andray was a faithful member of the evangelism team and often ministered to everyone she met. She also raised her children to know God for themselves which in turn led to her daughter April serving in ministry in various capacities as well. She was a deep well of wisdom and passion. Her advice shifted the lives of everyone who would receive it. She was anointed to be a mother, a sister, a daughter, an auntie, and a soul winner. Her love was selfless, infectious, and rare. She was affectionately called "Mom" by all of her children's friends. Her hugs and kisses melted every heart that received them. She was a beautiful singer. Her singing would calm troubled souls like David playing the harp. She never sought fame, recognition, or money for the things she's done for others. Her witnessing them live in freedom made her heart rejoice beyond words. She purely loved people.

She fought a good fight of faith but in the end cooperated with heaven's call to give her eternal peace. She has left behind a host of family members who loved her dearly and whose hearts will require much prayer in the days ahead. She is survived by her mother Cedar Boswell, children April Collins and Andrew Collins. Her sisters Harriett Walker and Judy Smalls; Her brothers Antonio Biggins and Ronnie Boswell and is preceded in death by father Freddie Smalls Sr. and brother Freddie Smalls Jr. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and ministry family. Her entire family and the church community will miss her. She was an impactful jewel to every life she touched.
