Obituary

Amy C. Donnell, age 85, of Loganville, Ga., died August 27, 2026 at Northside Hospital, Lawrenceville, Ga.

Amy was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on November 28, 1940 at Temple University Hospital to Richard Earl and Kathryn (Kennard) Creutzburg. She was a graduate of Olney High School in 1958 and the Chestnut Hill Hospital School of Nursing class of 1961 in Philadelphia, Pa. Her nursing training exposed her to many fields of medicine, but her passion was geriatric nursing. She pursued geriatric nursing until she retired from nursing after 30 years of serving others. Her final years as a nurse were spent at the VA Center in Decatur, Ga taking care of WWI and WWII veterans

While training to become a Nurse at Chestnut Hill Hospital School of Nursing, she was requested to serve as a blind date at a birthday party for a young sailor. This chance opportunity led to their marriage on June 16, 1962 to the love of her life, Stanley Donnell. Subsequently, their marriage led to the birth of 2 sons, Paul (married to Amber) and David. 2 grandchildren, Lilly and Mark (Anna-Marie), both of Paul and Amber. Additionally, she is survived by brother Earl Creutzburg.

Amy had the opportunity to travel internationally to France, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Argentina. She was very adventurous. Amy had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. Language was not a barrier with her; a smile and a gentle voice were all that was required.

GOD has chosen a very good ambassador to represent kindness and forgiveness. Her name is Amy, a poet's delight. She loved Browning, Yeats, and Frost.
