Alisha Alma Alvarez, 49, of Gainesville Georgia died July 17th after a hard fought, and lengthy battle with cancer.  A native of Gwinnett County, Alisha grew up in Lilburn Georgia and graduated from Brookwood High School and DeKalb College.  Prior to moving to Gainesville, she and her family were active members of Mountain Park United Methodist Church in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Alisha is survived by her mother, Lianne Alvarez of Gainesville, brothers Jeffrey Alvarez of Monroe and Michael Alvarez of Gainesville, and nephew Jeffrey Alvarez Jr of Monroe and Terry Sanders of Gainesville. She is preceded in death by her father, Edward Alvarez.

Alisha dedicated her adult life to caring for others.  She raised two young boys as a nanny, while also devoting years as a caregiver - first to her father, and more recently to her mother.  Traveling and spending time with her family were the things that made her happy.  Her fondest memories were from annual trips to Emerald Isle NC, camping at Gainesville's old Lockheed Campgrounds, and more recently, spending time on Lake Lanier.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday August 2, 2024 at College Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday August 1, 2024 form 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements by Byrd & Flanigan Crematory & Funeral Service, Lawrenceville. 770-962-2200
