Patricia Jane Miller

Patricia Wright Miller, age 86, passed away on January 1, 2020 at her home in Buford, GA. She was an 18-year resident of Buford and previously a longtime resident of Shepherdstown, WV.
She was a native of Shenandoah Junction, WV where she graduated from Shepherdstown High School in 1951. She attended Kings Daughters Hospital School of Nursing in Martinsburg, WV where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1954. After working 1 year at Kings Daughters Hospital, she worked at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center for 13 years as a registered nurse before a back injury forced her to retire in 1968. She would later return to nursing as an on-call nurse at Shepherd College for 3 years. In 1980 she became a part time nurse at the Jefferson County Health Department where she worked for 20+ years.
In 1957 she married her husband of 36 years Lewis (Sonny) Miller. She was a longstanding member of the New Street United Methodist Church in Shepherdstown, WV and was an active member with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Shepherdstown Fire Department. She became a member of the Shepherdstown Fire Department in 1978. She remained in Shepherdstown until 2001 when she moved to Buford, GA to be closer to her family. She attended the Sardis and Buford United Methodist Church and the Zion Hill Baptist Church while living in Buford.
Pat is survived by her 3 children, Jeff Miller (Alice) of Dacula, GA, Mark Miller (Marsha) of Hoschton, GA, and Patti Harlan of Oklahoma City, OK; 6 grandchildren, Brad Miller (Amanda), Ashley Overturf (Charles), Andy Miller (Melissa), Chris Miller, Dylan Johnston (Ashton), and Tyler Harlan; 5 great grandchildren, Jackson and Avery Miller, Anniston and Aiden Overturf, and Lila Miller; her sister, Doris Housden (Donnie) of Shenandoah Junction, WV.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis (Sonny) Miller; child, Richard Craig Miller; parents, Clarence and Idonia Wright; siblings, Clarence Wright Jr., Bobby Wright, and Wayne Wright.
Visitation in Georgia will be at Byrd & Flanigan Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, GA on Sunday, January 5, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
Visitation in West Virginia will be at Melvin T. Strider Funeral Home in Ranson, WV on Friday, January 10, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Kearneysville, WV.
