Mary Catherine Jasionowski of Snellville, Georgia formerly of Athol, MA peacefully passed away on June 22, 2018, at the age of 90.
Born on May 11, 1928, in Orange, Massachusetts she is predeceased by her parents, Mary and Peter Calcari, her husband John Jasionowski, son Paul Jasionowski and sister Jane Morrow.
She attended Athol Public Schools before attending and graduating from the Franklin County Nursing School in Greenfield as a Registered Nurse. Upon enlisting in the Air Force she was stationed at Chanute Air Force Base serving as a nurse. After leaving the Air Force she married her husband of 54 years John Jasionowski. They both were able to mark this occasion with a special celebration of marriage with a mass hosted by the Archbishop of Atlanta. She continued her nursing career as a surgical nurse working at Athol Memorial Hospital.She also worked for the Athol Public School System as School Nurse for several years.
Mary volunteered with the Simplex Minuteman Drum and Bugle Corps and Drum Corp competitions were one of her favorite hobbies. This activity allowed her to travel to many different states while enjoying the activity. After she moved to Georgia, Mary volunteered with several groups at Saint Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church. She was a member of Our Lady Immaculate when she resided in Athol. The rest of her time was spent following activities of her grandchildren. She was a cancer survivor and participated in Relay for Life on a regular basis when possible. She loved all animals, especially her Doxie Dog.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Propes, Sister, Patricia Bowers (Bob), three grandchildren; Kyle and Emily Propes, Micah Jasionowski, and God Son Michael Flannaganas well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
The family wishes to thank all of those who took wonderful care of her at Grosvenor Personal Care Home for the past four years.
Calling hours will be on July 13, 2018 from 6-8PM at Byrd and Flanigan Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, GA
Funeral Service is scheduled for July 14, 2018 at 11 AM at St Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church in Snellville, GA Internment will follow at Eternal Hill Cemetery in Snellville, GA
