Dannie Gunn Obituary

DANNIE RAY GUNN (1946 – 2019)

Dannie Ray Gunn, husband and father of one son, died on Thursday, March 21, 2019, of renal failure. He was 72 years old. Dan was born to Ollie Ray Gunn and Marjorie Gunn on April 6, 1946 near Atlanta. When his parents divorced Dan moved with his mother and step-father to Alaska, where he spent much of his youth, as well as Germany.  In his teens he moved back to Georgia to live with his father, however, he moved out at the young age of 14. He rode a motorcycle and learned to fight to make his way on his own. After meeting and dating the love of his life, Nina Jane, they wed in her mother's little white house with red shutters on Zoar Church Road.  They married on February 16, 1968, and raised one son, Joshua Gresham. Dan was a talented photographer and after a career in sales and purchasing he took a leap of faith to start his own business, Gunn's Photography, in 1988.  After the invention of portable video cameras, he changed the name to Gunn's Photo and Video and learned a new craft, for which he developed a strong reputation.  Dan loved to sing and play guitar, however, his favorite hobby was bartering and trading (cameras, guns, computer equipment, stereos, furniture—you name it, he traded it), and he was so skilled at it one of his close friends joked he never wanted to trade with Dan because Dan always came out with the better end of the deal.  Dan was known for his sense of humor, his pranking, and his ability to get his photographic subjects to laugh.  Dan was preceded in death by his father, Ollie, and his mother, Marjorie, and is survived by his wife Jane and his son Josh.  A private service and potluck for Dan's close friends and family will be held at his home in Lilburn, Georgia
