Craig Alan Holmes, “Monk,” age 59 of Buford, GA passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019. Craig was a US Army Veteran who served in Desert Storm; and, he retired as a Sergeant after 20 years of dedicated service. After his military service, Craig worked for The Battery Center in Buford, GA for 25 years. There he forged a special bond with the owner, Larry Davis, as friend, confidant, and brother. Craig was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his father Wendell Edwin Holmes. Craig is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Mary Seay Holmes, daughter Sarah Frederick & husband Charlie of Sugar Hill, GA; daughter Christine Marie Holmes & fiancé’ Louie Debenedictis of Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren Sienna Holmes & Anna Debenedictis of Lawrenceville, GA; mother Phyllis Holmes Blair of Pittsboro, NC; brother Michael Holmes & wife Dorothy of Reno, NV; sisters Deborah Holmes Griffiths & husband Terry of Rocky Mount, NC, and Becky Holmes Whitley of Pittsboro, NC. Craig is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews, and many special friends. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019, from 5:00-8:00pm. A Celebration of Craig’s Life, with full military honors presented by the United States Army, will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2019, at 2:00pm. Both visitation and celebration will be held in the Chapel of Byrd & Flanigan Crematory & Funeral Service, 288 Hurricane Shoals Rd., NE, Lawrenceville, GA 30046.
