William (Bill) Tierney died October 19, 2017, in Eastside Hospital, Snellville, Georgia, after a brief illness.  He was born on October 15, 1950, in New York City, New York, the son of Edward and (Norma) Diane Tierney, and brother of Dorothy, all of whom precede him in death.  After studying at Rutgers University, he enjoyed a successful career in insurance claims, employed by: Teachers’ Insurance, Aetna, John Hancock, and finally retiring from Georgia State Health Benefit Plan in 2013.He was an avid sportsman who played stickball, baseball, basketball, and football in his youth, and was a Giants and New York Yankees fan his entire life.In addition to his wife, Jill, Bill Tierney is survived by daughters Mackenzie Tierney of Long Island, New York; Elizabeth Tierney of Clyde, North Carolina; son, Edward Tierney of Cullowhee, North Carolina; and stepson, Steven Brandou (Bobbie Jo) of Tecumseh, Michigan; and by five grandchildren, along with cousins Steve (Sue) Gilroy of Searsport, Maine, and Patsy(George) Clarkson of Middleboro, Massachusetts.  Also remembering Bill Tierney are scores of friends and colleagues. A “celebration of life” party for all family and friends will be held at the Eastmont Cove Homeowners and Recreation Association’s clubhouse, 3421 East Pines Way, Snellville, Georgia, 30039, on February 3, 2018 from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
