Age 81 of Lawrenceville, GA; passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Jim retired from the United States Army as a Master Sergeant in which he served three tours in Vietnam. Jim also worked as a maintenance technician with Ewing Southeast Realty Company, and a member of the Dacula Church of God. Jim’s passions included woodworking, camping, fishing, serving his country and his Lord – each one of these were an avenue in which he was able to connect with people in all walks of life. Loyal to family and friends, he was always quick to action when someone was in need. He never met a stranger and every child was his friend.  He and his wife, Jeanette, were married for 58 years, deeply devoted to one another, together building their home and life on a firm foundation of faith.  He journeyed his faith by walking in humility and being a blessing to all he met. Jim is preceded in death by his parents James Robert & Neva Allen Banner, siblings Robert Banner, Dale Banner, Shirley Anderson, and Barbara Borshel, and great-grandchild Serenity Rose Rodriguez.  Jim is survived by his wife Jeanette Banner, children Kimberly Banner of Winder GA; DeWayne & Tina Banner Morganton GA; grandchildren Jessica Banner, Neal Banner, Cassie & Jorge Rodriguez, Benjamin Banner, Ethan Banner, Devin &  Jimmy Chatwood great-grandchildren Eli Rodriguez, Isaiah Rodriguez, Silas Rodriguez, Nora Kate Rodriguez, & CJ Chatwood sisters Donna Baker, Iowa Falls, IA, Cindy Rumley, Ottumwa, IA, Carolyn Whipple, Ackley IA. brothers Rick Banner Millen, GA, Larry Banner Alden, IA, & Dan Banner Iowa Falls, IA  A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at 3:00 pm with Pastor Steven Carroll & Rev. Gary Wright officiating.  Interment will follow on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 1:30 pm at GA National Cemetery in Canton GA.  Family & friends that plan to go in procession to the cemetery are requested to assemble at the funeral home on Tuesday morning by 10:30 am.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 24, 2018, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
